Bremerton, WA — Wedding with my brother Colin & his new wife Sarah!
I recorded this mix beforehand in 4 sets and played it during the dancing portion of the wedding. It was the summer solstice weekend, so of course we started with Earth, Wind & Fire — “September.” What else are you going to do?
There’s something different about DJing for family. The pressure is real, but so is the love — and when both of those things are in the room at the same time, it creates energy you can’t manufacture.
Colin and Sarah’s wedding had that in spades. Bremerton sits across the Puget Sound from Seattle, and the Pacific Northwest summer light does something magical — golden and long, hanging around like it doesn’t want the party to end. Their guests matched that energy completely.
The music ran the gamut, as good wedding receptions should. We hit soul, funk, pop, hip-hop, and everything in between. The dance floor was packed when it needed to be packed and breathing when it needed to breathe.
